Presbyopia and Baby Boomers
Presbyopia, Greek for "aging eye," is a progressive condition that causes near vision to fade with age.
Presbyopia is the most prevalent eye condition in America. It affects people
between the ages of 40 to 45. An estimated 90 million American Baby Boomers either have presbyopia or will develop the condition in the next 10 years.
People affected by presbyopia often own multiple pairs of reading glasses and must rely on them for even the most mundane
daily tasks.
Symptoms of presbyopia include difficulty with all forms of near vision, such as reading, ordering from a menu, checking a price tag, dialing a cell phone, or even doing hobby work.
Dr. Starr is the first and only ophthalmologist
to perform CK
in
the local area
to improve your near vision without reading glasses or
bifocals. CK
is the first
and only FDA-approved treatment
of presbyopia. For anyone age
45 or older, reading glasses are almost inevitable.
Until recently, people with presbyopia have not been able to correct their problem because the available procedures were not effective.
Now, presbyopia
can be
safely treated in minutes right in Dr. Starr's
office with CK.
If you had good distance vision
until age 40 to 45 without ever needing glasses or
contacts, but now need reading glasses for near
vision, you can be helped with CK.
Or, if you need glasses or contacts for distance and reading
glasses or bifocals for near vision, you can
dramatically improve both your distance and near
vision without glasses or contacts by first having
Dr. Starr perform LASIK
for distance vision
and then CK
for near vision. |
